Cait’s Review:
I. Love. This. Movie. I watched this movie ages ago SOLELY because it’s in Sleepless in Seattle and curiosity got the better of me. I remembered it being decent, but not loving it. OMG IT’S SO GOOD! Like, ok, yes. The entire movie is based on an affair, but even still, it’s SO good! There is some incredible scenes where so much is conveyed without saying anything, and it is done is such a beautiful and classy way! So much heart, so many touching moments! This movie was 100% better than I remembered. I’m SO glad we watched it! If you haven’t watched it, do it now! THIS is a movie that deserves the title of “Classic”! Apart from the fashion and wardrobe, this movie could be done again with very little modification.
Cait’s gives it: A
Joe’s Synopsis:
“Two committed adults try (and fail) to persuade their relatives that they are able to be independent”
Joe’s Review:
In “An Affair to a Remember” (1957), Cary Grant receives a phone call on a ship in the ocean. Was this a thing that happened? How? Anyway, this movie is far better than I thought any “classic movie” would be. The setting and customs are old, but the feelings are timeless. This movie does an excellent job to make the last 20 minutes worth watching the entirety. I can’t believe I lived until I was as old as I am and haven’t seen that before I was as old as I was. Good for a background movie, but you definitely need to rewind to watch the important parts.
Time has proven this to be a 6.5/10. Time sucks.
Joe Gives it: 4/5 (B+) (rev: legit review)
